How to create a paypal.me account
Paypal.me is a shortened URL payment technique launched on first September 2015 by paypal. It’s a personalized payment system where one can send and receive money using a custom URL.
It’s all tied to the new paypal.me domain and basically gives you a personalized shortened URL that you can share with customers and clients that makes is ridiculously easy for them to pay/send you money immediately. In this post, I’ll be showing you step by step guide on how to create a paypal.me account and how to even preset the payment amount as needed by the medium. Doe it’s yet to be available in many countries but I believe very soon it will get to be accessed in all the countries across the globe.
Setting up a pay-pal.me account can be done using any device both mobile and non-mobile users. So enjoy!
Steps on how to create a paypal.me account
Step 1: To start, simply go to paypal.me or click here: and click on the “Get Started button”
Very importantly, I advise you hurry now and grab your name before someone else does that for you by grabbing your name or your business name which you may not like. It like web domain name.
Step 2: Click on “Grab This Link”
You have to do this once you’ve entered your desired shortened URL (and be careful about spelling! too before you forget).
Step 3: log in to your PayPal account with your email and password:
You do have two-step verification set up for your PayPal account, right?
If you don’t, do it. Seriously. It’s a smart way to keep your account more secure. Here are some instructions: Enable two-step account verification security on PayPal.
Since you do have two-step verification enabled, you’ll then have a secret numeric sequence sent to you that you’ll enter to confirm your identity:
Step 4: Entered? Click “Continue”.
You’ll now be able to customize and make changes to the landing page a little bit by choosing a color theme and adding a photo. In the screen capture below you can see that I’m part-way through picking a specific photo (I simply tapped on the camera icon on screen):
Simply go into your Photo Library, find a picture that’s going to work best for you and upload (tip: you can always change it from your computer if you don’t have a logo or good portrait pic handy on your mobile device).
Looks good. Scroll downwards to be able to enter a succinct business description too:
One last chance to double check the spelling of the shortened URL that you’re about to set for your paypal.me link.
Stpe 5: Once you think all your changes Looks good with a good description. Click on “Create Your PayPal.Me” and Very nice, you are good to go.
Now you can share it with people via any of the social media sites (try it out with Twitter and Facebook, both look very nice) but you can also try just going to the new link with your computer’s Web browser to see what that looks like. if you have done or followed all the steps correctly, you will have something like this. (see picture below)
Here’s a secret, though: when you share the link with someone, you can hardcode the amount that they should pay you to avoid confusion or misunderstandings. Simply append the desired amount (in even dollar figures) to the URL. So if I wanted you to pay me $20.00 USD, I could share with you the URL: paypal.me/gudtalent/20. Try it, click on the link.
That’s all there is to working with this new service. It’s really very cool; I think it’s a very elegant solution to requesting money from other PayPal users. What’s your take?
